What's the Difference Between Wellness and Well-being? And Why It Matters.

How often do you take a moment to appreciate a sunset or sunrise? What about feeling the wind in your hair, the breeze on your face and the freshness of a new day? Every day these opportunities are presented to us, how often do you accept the invitation?

Living in the present is foundational to wellness practices. To notice the joy, the color, the texture of your surroundings, especially in the little ordinary things can bring a release of dopamine, the "well-being" neurotransmitter and hormone. Wellness practices are those things you do for yourself to find and feel peace, calm, nurturance and a sense of overall well-being. Well-being then, is the aggregate of your various wellness practices.

Take 7 minutes to write the things that you do that bring you calm, content feelings. Those are just some of your wellness practices. Add more as you think of them to create your own wellness collection.

After you make your list choose one of the items to do now. If your list includes complicated behaviors that are not doable in the present, add one you can access where you are now and bring yourself joy.  Research from various areas of neuroscience tells us that even 3 seconds of visualizing a peaceful place will create a dopamine release that may last a few hours.

You deserve all the good!
